My mission is to deliver patient centred care for patients needing radiotherapy services in Jordan.
I put patients first and strive to provide the best possible care for each and every patient. The aim is to improve cancer outcomes and exceed patients’ expectations for comfort, convenience and satisfaction.
One of a kind experience in Jordan and the Middle East
Dr Salem has over 10 years of experience in the field of radiotherapy. He is among the first practising radiation oncologists in Jordan to hold full Western qualifications in this field (fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists in the UK, UK specialist registration and a PhD in radiobiology from the University of Manchester). He worked as a consultant radiation oncologist in a big cancer centre in the UK for 4 years (2018-2022). He has led teams that treated the UK’s first lung cancer patients using novel radiotherapy techniques as proton radiotherapy or the MR Linac.
He has published over 60 research papers in prestigious medical journals; some of his research work has been incorporated into North American and European clinical practise guidelines and now guide cancer practise worldwide.

Dr Salem is thorough and takes his time to explain to the patient and his family and friends his or her condition in detail, possible treatment options and any side-effects of treatment. He is affectionate and is sensitive to the patients’ needs and wishes. He breaks bad news in a considerate manner and has indeed published guidance on how to broach this in patients in our society
Evidence-based radiotherapy techniques
Dr Salem provides recommendations for treatment with radiotherapy based on the latest international clinical guidelines, incorporating radiotherapy approaches that have the potential of improving cancer outcomes or reducing side-effects. These approaches include the use of intensity modulated radiotherapy, breath hold technique for left sided breast cancer to name a few. More information can be found under cancer treatments
Ability to deal with complex cases
Dr Salem has unrivalled experience in dealing with complex cases. For example, he introduced a retreatment with radiotherapy service (re-irradiation) while working in the Christie Hospital in the UK for patients with difficult to treat lung cancer (recurrent disease). He has experience in successfully treating patients with significant medical conditions or comorbidities making radiotherapy treatment tricky.
Get treatment from a doctor with a presence on the international stage
Dr Salem continues to have a significant educational and research presence on the international stage. He continues to hold an honorary academic appointment with the University of Manchester at the rank of senior clinical lecturer (equivalent to the US rank of associate professor). He superverses postgraduate and medical students and teaches regularly on international courses as the European Society of Radiotherapy and Oncology contouring workshops.
